Cincideutsch introduced the first authentic German Christmas market to downtown Cincinnati’s Fountain Square the weekend after Thanksgiving. The market featured local vendors with items ranging from Christmas décor to imported German goods to German-style sweets and foods.
Participating vendors included: Ultimate Almonds, Cin-dee’s Crafts, the Germania Society, Munich Sister Cities, Rookwood Pottery, Servatii’s Pastry Shop & Deli, and St. Joseph Catholic School.
In a special partnership with Saint Ursula Academy’s senior design class, Cincideutsch worked with the students to create a set of collectable mugs. The seniors learned about modern German culture and design, and then researched about a designer from the Bauhaus design school. Taking inspiration from the work produced by their assigned designer, the students created abstract representations of German words that are difficult to translate into English.
